52 New Buses Ready for Shipment to Expand Peshawar BRT Fleet

The Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system is set to receive a major boost as 52 newly procured hybrid buses are now ready for shipment to Pakistan. The expansion is part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's efforts to improve public transport services and accommodate the growing number of daily commuters.

According to TransPeshawar, the arrival of the new buses will increase the total BRT fleet from 244 to 296 buses. The first batch of 25 buses is expected to reach Pakistan in early July, while the remaining buses will arrive in subsequent shipments.

The additional buses will operate on both the main BRT corridor and feeder routes, helping reduce passenger waiting times, increase service frequency, and improve commuting across Peshawar. The fleet expansion is being carried out under the directions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi.

TransPeshawar also announced that the new fleet will support the launch of a dedicated Pink Bus Service for women. Selected buses will be reserved exclusively for female passengers, offering a safer and more comfortable travel experience, especially during peak hours. Authorities are also working on introducing new BRT routes to expand the network further.

The addition of the new buses reflects the provincial government's continued investment in modern, reliable, and environmentally friendly public transportation, aimed at meeting the mobility needs of Peshawar's growing population.
